The 5 most romantic getaways for gay couples on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means it’s time to shake things up and plan a romantic getaway with your loved one.

Can you believe we’re just about through the first month of 2020? That was quick, wasn’t it? But with the end of January comes February, and you know what that means… Valentine’s Day! Sure, who doesn’t love chocolates, roses and a fancy dinner. But with this being the start of a new decade and all, maybe it’s time to up the ante.

Below are five of the most romantic destinations around the world for couples looking to do something outside of the box this year.

1.) Paris, France

What listicle about romantic destinations wouldn’t include Paris? A bad one! But seriously, the City of Lights is one of the most beautiful places in the world. And talk about grand gestures, there’s plenty to do to sweep your partner off of their feet and blow them away. For starters, the Musée Rodin typically extends its hours on Valentine’s Day; perhaps a romantic tour of a major collection of art to set the mood? There’s also the Aquarium de Paris, which boasts 60 tanks and over 7,500 sea creatures (including one of the biggest shark tanks in all of France) if that’s your thing. There’s also the tropical greenhouse at Jardin des Plantes, where you can bask in the beauty of the orchids in bloom! For dinner, check out The Ritz Hotel.

If you’re stuck on where to stay, look no further than the L’Hotel du Collectionneur, which has special offers to help save some money, as well as a number of room options (including one with a view of the Eiffel Tower).

2.) Vermont, USA

To those of you looking to curl up by the fire with your man, we hear you! Definitely make a point of checking out the Smugglers Notch Resort, which has a special offer for Valentine’s Day. Hit the slopes (if you’re into that), as lift passes are included with the Club Smugglers package, as well as being greeted to a Cabot Creamery box and $50 worth of cash that can be used towards a massage or romantic dinner.

Another option is The Essex Resort and Spa, which boasts a Romance Package, complete with wine, Swedish massage, dinner for two and breakfast every morning during your stay. You’ll still get to cuddle up with your man in front of your fireplace as well.

3.) Aruba

Get a little Vitamin D (😏) and soak up the sun in your favorite speedo with your man. The Manchebo Beach Resort and Spa, which offers premier access to some of Aruba’s best beaches. What’s better than waking up with a deluxe ocean room view and open bar? Waking up with a deluxe ocean room view and open bar, with breakfast in bed, of course.

4.) Edmonton, Canada

Want to keep things simple but still get away? Edmonton is one of Canada’s most serene and picturesque destinations, complete with beautiful rivers and valleys. The Chateau Lacombe is the preferred choice for travelers, offering a gorgeous view of the North Saskatchewan River valley. Perfect for updating that Instagram grid during your stay.

Every Tuesday and Thursday the hotel offers Tireless Tuesdays and Retro Thursdays, featuring special menu items and signature cocktails and wines.
