The best gay nightclubs in Miami to dance your holiday away
Let’s face it, the holidays don’t mean the same thing to everyone. For some people, it means spending time with their beloved family members. For others it means getting as far away from your everyday life as possible for some much needed R&R.
We’re officially 10 days out from Christmas and drawing closer to the end of the holiday season, so there may not a lot of time to for everyone to plan the lavish vacation of their dreams, but there’s always somewhere you can escape to, and we’re here to help. The answer? Miami.
Gay history runs through the bloodstream of Miami; home to one of the largest annual Gay Pride parties (on the beach!) and it’s a huge scene for drag queens and gay nightlife. If the winter blues have you down, Miami may be just what the doctor ordered. So what are you waiting for! Book that last minute flight. Already there? Even better! Here’s some of the best clubs to hit up.
1.) WaterLOO
Recently opened, this space has plenty of comfy seating to give it that home-y vibe. But make no mistake, things get live on the weekends. With great DJs plenty of hot guys. There’s even karaoke hosted by drag queens for those of you wanting show off your vocal acrobatics. On Tuesdays you can skip the cover and get some $5 well-drinks.
2.) Twist

For avid bar hoppers looking to switch things up and spice up your night, look no further than Twist. This multi-floor bar has seven (yes, seven) bars to choose from. You don’t even need to leave the building to head to the next location! And the best part, there’s no cover charge. Doesn’t get any better than that if you ask us; their slogan is ”Never a cover, always a groove!” But don’t miss the weekly underwear contests, which could lead you to a $100 bar tab if you impress the judge(s).
3.) The Manor
Wilton Manors happens to be one of the most gay-friendly neighborhoods in the country, so if you’re going to make the trip to Miami you best be putting this one on your to do list. There’s two levels, crystal chandeliers and a huge performance stage. After you’ve partied your heart out, head over to New York Grilled Cheese for a post-club snack, seeing as they’re open till 3 am.
4.) Basement

Though not exclusive a gay club, Basement is one of the hottest spots in town and a huge ally to the LGBTQ community 365 days out of the year. This isn’t just your average club though; in addition to the dance floor and drag queens aplenty, there’s rainbow bowling lanes and an ice skating rink (yes you read that correctly).
5.) Jamboree Lounge
Not to fear wallflowers, we have some options for you too; it doesn’t have to be 100% party all the time.
Those in search of a more laid back evening of drinking will love this spot in Little Haiti. It’s got a real dive-y feel, with some great drink specials ($3 Miller Lite and Budweiser on Mondays).
6.) Club Aqua

This isn’t quite a club exactly… well not in the traditional sense anyway. It’s an old school bathhouse, so if you’re looking to end up on the naughty list this year, this may just be the place for you. There’s a pool if you wanna get your swim on, steam rooms and play rooms to… well, you know. And if you find yourself in the locker rooms, don’t hesitate to let your eyes explore all of the options.
